Philosophy
Everyone is unique, with their own story and history. Everyone is shaped by their experiences in life. Therapy is a useful space to untangle and better understand stories and experiences, and how they affect our day to day. While therapy cannot change what has happened to you, it can change how you live your life.
I am an experienced chartered counselling psychologist, which means that I’ve undergone a rigorous training and am highly qualified to work with a range of experiences and diagnoses, however inherent to my training and the way that I like to work is that human to human connection; you are not a label or one experience but a whole person (even if it doesn’t feel like that right now). I fundamentally focus on the person or people in front of me and what they are going through.
Approach
I work in a pragmatic and pluralistic way, which means that I combine my training, skills and knowledge fluidly to meet you where you are and to help you achieve your goals, whether they are small and specific or big and general. These goals might remain the same throughout therapy or change over time. Regular reviews will allow us to collaboratively ensure we are on the right track and to make adjustments when needed. I offer a compassionate, safe space where we work at your pace, blending evidence-based approaches with your knowledge of yourself to move you towards your goals.
Experience
Since moving to the UK in 2015, I have worked in the NHS, including in child and adolescent, primary, secondary and specialist teams, with individuals experiencing a range of presentations. I most recently worked in a perinatal NHS service, both in the outpatient and inpatient mother baby unit.
I also have experience working in charities and national health services internationally, developing a keen understanding and interest in cultural differences/similarities, identity, the role of language, and issues of relocation, alienation and belonging.
Prior to starting my doctoral training I completed a Bachelor of Arts, specialising in psychology and dance, a Master’s of science in clinical and child & adolescent psychology, and a postgraduate qualification in low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
